advanced care available through its 1,063 licensed beds and auxiliary facilities.Riverside offers residents a large, diverse patient base with more than 42,000 admissions each year, 63,000 outpatient visits, 58,000 emergency admissions each year, 63,000 outpatient visits, 58,000 emergency room visits, and 21,000 surgical procedures. Nationally, Riverside ranks fifth in the number of admissions. In 2006, Riverside was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top 50 hospitals in the categories of: Heart and Heart Surgery, Cancer, and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT.) In 2006, Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Patient Safety from HealthGrades, the leading healthcare ratings organization. Based on their study, HealthGrades identified 238 hospitals that comprise the top 15 percent in the nation for patient safety, identifying the best performing hospitals to establish a best-practice benchmark against which other hospitals can be evaluated. Riverside and Grant were the only two central Ohio hospitals to receive this award. In 2006, Riverside Methodist Hospital was awarded "Magnet Designation" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Magnet Designation is the highest level of recognition awarded to healthcare organizations for nursing excellence. Riverside joins fewer than 200 hospitals in the nation with this designation. Riverside was named a 100 Top Hospital in 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002 and 2001, placing the hospital in the top 2 percent of hospitals nationwide. It is one of only four hospitals to have received the award five years in a row. The "100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success" list is issued every year by Solucient, a leading healthcare information company. Riverside received this recognition for outstanding performance in clinical outcomes, patient safety, operational efficiency, financial results and service to the community. The 100 Top Hospitals treated sicker patients requiring more complex treatments yet had better patient outcomes and lower costs. In 2002, U.S. News & World Report named Riverside as one of the top 50 hospitals in the nation for its excellence in neurology and neurosurgery. U.S. News & World Report ranked Riverside 32nd in its annual ranking of "America's Best Hospitals." In 1999, Riverside received HCIA ranking as one of the Top 100 orthopedic hospitals in nation, based on volume and quality of care, for revisions, hip fractures and hip and knee replacements. In both 1999 and 2000, Riverside Heart Services was ranked by HCIA-SACHs as one of the Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals in the nation for treating heart attacks, performing coronary angioplasties and open heart bypass surgery. |
