Curriculum: Lectures
Your clinical training will be complemented by an assortment of lectures and seminars, including those listed below:
- In addition to daily morning reports, you may attend noon conference with internal medicine residents at the hospital.
- Family practice residents gather at the Family Practice Center each Wednesday for lunch and a lecture on a topic suggested by residents or the core curriculum.
- A behavioral medicine conference is held weekly for each of the three classes of family practice residents. The conferences alternate between supportive group and didactic teaching.
- Chart reviews and case conferences are held twice each week giving you an opportunity to discuss difficult cases and review charting techniques
- Our Tuesday morning continuing education series for house staff and attending physicians offers two hours of lectures by speakers from Riverside and throughout the United States.
- The family practice journal club also meets monthly. It enables you to review current literature and discuss the scientific validity of articles.
- Family Practice Grand Rounds are held once each month for residents and attending physicians. Ground Rounds include lectures on pediatrics, orthopedics, allergy, medicine, ob/gyn and surgery.
- While on subspecialty services,you will be able to attend numerous conferences focusing on that subspecialty.
- There is a primary care conference week which generally attracts many as 100 residents and staff.
