Skin Cancer Prevention
- Avoid sunbathing
- Use sunscreen - SPF 15 or higher and remember to reapply often
- Be careful of unnecessary sun exposure, especially from the peak hours
of 10 am to 4 pm
- When you are in the sun wear protective clothing - Sun glasses, long sleeved shirts, long pants, and broad-brimmed hats.
- Keep kids out of the sun - sun damage from childhood can lead to skin cancer in adults
- Avoid artifical tanning devices
- Exam your skin frequently - discuss any skin changes with your family doctor
- Follow up - if you have a history of skin cancers or pre-cancers, be sure to see your
doctor for a skin check regularly
